BATS students
are required to complete a certain number of practicum hours
for their degree. The OBM practicum sites vary year to year,
and have in the past included sites such as Meijer, Enge & Associates,
Croyden, and WMU. PPP students do their practicum at four
sites. Each student will get experience at all sites. The
sites are:
Croyden
Avenue School - Croyden is a public school servicing
people from 1 - 26 years of age who are classified as Autistically
Impaired (AI), Severely Mentally Impaired (SMI) or Multiply
Impaired (SXI). Practicum students work at different levels
in the AI classroom.
Valley
Center - Valley Center is a school for emotionally
impaired (EI) students from elementary school to high school.
These students have average to above-average intelligence,
but have behavioral and/or emotional problems.
Young
Adults Program - This program is geared towards young
adults age 19 and older, who have mental and/or physical
impairments. Skills are provided to assist in preparedness
for independent living.
Community
Mental Health (CMH) - CMH practicum includes testing
and assesment, individual or group psychotherapy, case
coordination and management, staff development and training,
among other services.
